Spartanburg County Struggles with Traffic Jam After 18-Wheeler Collision

In a bit of unfortunate happening, a major roadway in Spartanburg County, South Carolina was gridlocked earlier today after a collision involving an 18-wheeler. The crash took place on the westbound lanes of Interstate 26, a frequently traveled route for countless residents and visitors each day. Now, that flow of traffic has been reduced signifcantly as we’ve learned that only one lane is currently open, causing serious delays and a potential re-routing headache for drivers in the area.

The Incident

The crash reportedly occurred around the middle of the afternoon, roughly around 2:30 pm. The heavy 18-wheeler truck found itself in a tangle with another vehicle on the westbound lanes of I-26, near mile marker 6. Details concerning the exact circumstances of the accident haven’t been fully disclosed as yet. However, it was enough to disrupt traffic movement, causing significant delays for commuters.

As traffic maneuvered around the scene, one lane managed to remain open, allowing for some movement of vehicles. Nonetheless, the incident has led to significant backlogs, and motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution when approaching the site of the accident.

Victims and Aftermath
