Spartanburg County Prepares for Potential Storm Damage as Heavy Rains Predicted

Spartanburg County Gets Ready for Stormy Weather

Down in Spartanburg County, S.C., the weather forecast is predicting some rough and tumble times. After loads of rain fell just yesterday night, the ground is soaked. This could create some real challenges when the big winds start rolling in.

Prepping for the Big Blow

According to Doug Bryson, the big cheese at Spartanburg County Emergency Services, they’re worried about a whole bunch of trees and power lines crashing down because of the waterlogged soil. It’s all hands on deck over at the department. These hardworking folks have been busy as bees all week, making sure all their gear is ready to rock for whatever comes their way.

And get this — help is on the horizon. Bryson revealed that some crew members from around the state are making the trek to lend a hand.

The 411 on Staying Safe

The Emergency Services gang are imploring folks to exercise some serious caution. Bryson is urging people to steer clear of flooded roads. He’s also suggesting that you limit your time out and about in your car as much as you can.

Here’s something to remember — more people pass away in hurricanes due to drowning than anything else. The folks at Emergency Services have a motto that people should follow to a T: “Turn around, don’t drown.”

But there’s another reason you should keep off the roads. With fewer cars on the street, they can get to emergencies a whole lot faster.

Ready and Waiting

When nasty weather comes knocking, you gotta be prepared. According to Bryson and his crew, handling storms like this one is really about being ready to respond. Having all their gear set up ahead of time means they can handle a crisis more quickly and efficiently. And who doesn’t want that when the chips are down?

So, Spartanburg friends, take their advice to heart. Stay safe, keep dry, and remember — we’re all in this together.
