Spartanburg Day School to Reestablish Football and Lacrosse Programs

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Spartanburg Day School has announced plans to reintroduce two sports programs in the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. The school is set to reestablish its football program for students in grades 5-8, marking the return of football to the SDS athletics roster after a hiatus that began in 1981. Additionally, boys and girls’ lacrosse will make a comeback after a 13-year absence.

Football Program Resumes

The decision to bring back football at Spartanburg Day School comes after years of consideration and planning. Cerino, who boasts a wealth of experience as a head lacrosse coach at esteemed college programs and in Major League Lacrosse, is eager to guide the team to success. The school is actively seeking a program director for the girls’ lacrosse team to complete the coaching staff.
