Hey there, folks! A breath of fresh air is coming to the good old City of Spartanburg on Florida Avenue. A whopping $23 million development is gearing up to sit pretty on a formerly vacant lot, adding a new sparkle to our cityscape. Our city manager, Chris brings us the good news that this big deal is expected to generate more than $250,000 in revenues for our local government in its very first year.
Means we’re not just talking construction here, but also a cash boost for our city’s kitty. You know that vacant spot on Florida Avenue – the one we thought had been forgotten about? Yeah, that’s the one. Well, it’s no longer going to be a couple of forgotten lots. Christopher from the City Council spills the beans about the upcoming 95-unit townhome development, “That lot has been vacant for years, it’s actually a couple of lots there that are connected but there’s been nothing in that area for a very long time.”
A green light has been given to the construction team, and they’re all set to kickstart the building process. Of the 95 units, guess what? Our council’s set aside 10 for tenants who earn 80% or less of the area’s median income. I’m sure our pals at the city council will give us a big thumbs-up for housing of all types and price points. You gotta love this community spirit, right?
“We need more housing of all types and all price points here in the city and this townhome development is really going to fill a gap,” adds Christopher. Square footage? You’d be looking at an average of 1,550. We’re talking three bedrooms and two baths- sounds cozy, doesn’t it?
Our local business owners are buzzing with excitement over the prospects of the new development. Beyond the promise of new neighbors, the development will also feature 2,000 square feet of commercial space, with talks of a new restaurant coming up. Who wouldn’t love some more dine-out options, right?
Here’s a cherry on the cake – parts of the development outside city limits will be annexed. Plus, the city has made a commitment to maintain public improvements relating to the development. How about that for a sweet deal? I can hardly wait until 2026 to see the completed project.
So folks, keep your eyes peeled for more updates! This massive project promises to be a game-changer for our city, bringing economic prosperity and a whole new life to the area. But don’t just take our word for it, come out and see the changes for yourself!
