Spartanburg Celebrates 31st Annual Greek Festival with Scrumptious Food and Fun

From authentic delicacies to energetic music and dance, Spartanburg turned up the fun at the 31st Annual Greek Festival hosted by the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church last Friday. Nothing brings people together like a shared love for mouth-watering food and cultural festivities, and this festival surely proved it.

Speaking of food, festival-goers have made it pretty clear โ€“ itโ€™s the highlight of the whole event! As one vendor, Siri Ghazal, enthusiastically put it: โ€œThe food of course. Itโ€™s the best you can have!โ€ Meanwhile, Sandy Burn, another vendor, cheered, โ€œI mean of course we enjoyed the music, and we enjoyed the dancing and all of the energy thatโ€™s here, but mostly we just love to come and eat the food.โ€

A Smorgasbord of Greek Delights!

With an array of options on offer, from freshly made varieties of palatable pastries and rich, savory grill delicacies to Greek ice cream and coffee, deciding on what to pick was a joyously overwhelming task. Attendees spoke highly about the food, with preferences as diverse as the food court itself.

Sandy Burn said, โ€œI always get a box of the assorted pastries, but I love the Greek chickenโ€. Even beyond the food, the festival has amassed a significant following, with attendees also finding comfort in the sense of community and camaraderie the festival fosters. โ€œEverything is so good,โ€ says Mary Giles, an attendee. โ€œIโ€™ve been sitting here watching the people and itโ€™s so nice to see people interacting with one another, just smiling and enjoying their time.โ€

More than just Food!

Apart from the culinary delights, the festival offered visitors many attractions including five local vendors showcasing a wide range of Greek-inspired products. Bookworms could also explore a bookstore, while cultural enthusiasts enjoyed tours of the picturesque Greek church.

For those who missed the frenzy, the festival offered an online ordering option through Hub City Delivery. Bringing the magic of authentic Greek food with a single click, the option made taste buds tingle in the comfort of home!

The festival ran from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m Friday and Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m Sunday. Held at the church on Asheville Highway, organizers recommended visitors take shuttles from Gibbs Stadium at Wofford College. As with previous years, parking was limited, indicating the intense popularity and bustling nature of the festival.

Conclusion

This year’s 31st Annual Greek festival in Spartanburg was indeed a flavor-packed and entertaining celebration, creating a wholesome amalgamation of culture, community, enjoyment, and, of course, fantastic food! The buzzing energy noted by attendees and the gushing praise for the culinary exploits surely suggest that the next edition will be eagerly anticipated.
