Hold onto your hats, folks! This isn’t your typical sun-soaked day in Spartanburg, SC. Get your rain jackets out because we’re forecasted to experience heavy rain and potential flooding through Wednesday morning. Can you believe we’re expecting up to three inches of rainfall? Now, that’s a downpour!
The experts over at the National Weather Service have got their eyes on the sky and their hands on their radars. They’re warning us about potential flooding along Interstate 85 and the surrounding roadways and boy-oh-boy, that could create some seriously hazardous driving conditions. If you’re East of the mountains, especially along the Escarpment, get ready for the heaviest rain.
The Weather Wizards issued a strong call for us folks to avoid driving through those flooded areas. It turns out, at night, standing water is sneakier than a coyote in a henhouse – hard to spot until it’s too late. So let’s not take any risks, y’all.
Still thinking about stepping out tonight? Well, apart from the rain, expect some thunderstorms and even patchy fog. The low is predicted to be near 55°F, and the gusts are said to be picking up a speed of 24 mph. Just a friendly reminder to give your trees some TLC, they might just need it tonight.
The showers are set to persist on Wednesday morning but should clear out by late afternoon. We’ll also be feeling a chill with temperatures dropping to a high of 50°F. But hang in there! Clear skies and cooler conditions are on their way. Thursday is shaping up to be a sunny delight with similar temperatures – a high near 50°F and a low around 30°F at night. We’ve got lows like the Grand Ole Opry and highs like a country love song.
As for Friday and Saturday, things are looking up with highs in the upper 40s. But keep your rain boots handy as there’s a slight chance of showers returning late Saturday afternoon.
For all you road warriors, keep an eye out for reduced visibility caused by the fog. Wet roads can be as slippery as buttered okra, so be mindful of the risk of hydroplaning. While we love our adventures, remember, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
So keep the hot chocolate coming, good folks of Spartanburg! As community members, it’s super important we stick together and keep each other informed of changing conditions. Avoid unnecessary travel until things brighten up and keep an ear out for local alerts. We don’t want to let the weather rain on our parade, do we?
Remember, every cloud has a silver lining and in this case, it’s clear skies and cooler temperatures ahead!
