In the heart of the relaxed southern city of Spartanburg, the community’s vibrant cultural hub, the Spartanburg Little Theater, is abuzz with anticipation. The theater will be hosting its landmark 10th annual Season Reveal Gala tonight at 6:30 p.m, at the picturesque Chapman Cultural Center, located at 200 E. St. John Street.
This year’s reveal contains a special theme fitting for the line-up of performances – themed around the iconic Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame. Attendees are encouraged to don their finest rock n’ roll attire for this momentous occasion. To further boost the excitement, a silent auction will be conducted, the season’s performances will be unveiled, and an after-party is scheduled to conclude the event. Tonight promises to be an evening of high energy, community spirit, and artistic passion.
Dedicated to fostering local talent and enriching the community through brilliant, captivating theatrical productions, the Spartanburg Little Theater has become a cherished cornerstone of the city’s arts scene. For the remainder of their 2024 season, the theater will present “School of Rock” from May 3 to May 12, and “Kinky Boots” from July 12 to July 24.
The first performance, “School of Rock,” revolves around the charmingly rebellious Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who fakes his way into a prestigious prep school as a substitute teacher. His wild and unorthodox teaching style leads him on a mission to form a rock band with his students, aiming to win a battle-of-the-bands competition.
The second feature, “Kinky Boots”, tells the heartfelt story of Charlie Price. Inheriting his father’s shoe factory on the brink of bankruptcy, Charlie finds an unlikely savior and friend in the glamorous Lola, a fabulous drag entertainer. Together, they craft a range of sturdy, stylish, and indeed, ‘kinky’ boots that help to save the factory.
Fans can snag their tickets for both these much-anticipated performances from the theatre’s official website.
The Spartanburg Little Theater stands as a charismatic embodiment of the city’s devotion to arts and culture. Hosting this gala is one among its many inspiring initiatives designed to boost community engagement and support the local arts scene. Members of the community eagerly anticipate the theatrical treasures the remainder of the 2024 season will bring.
