SPARTANBURG, S.C. – A resident of Spartanburg, David Jackson, has been dealt a 12-year prison sentence subsequent to pleading guilty to an attempted armed robbery at a local QuikTrip.
On Aug. 9, 2022, Jackson reportedly entered a QuikTrip, situated on W. Main St in Spartanburg, armed with a concealed firearm. It was reported by the Spartanburg Police Department that Jackson fired the weapon upon his entrance and attempted to access the cash drawers behind the counter, albeit unsuccessfully. Police officers caught Jackson near the gas pumps outside the convenience store shortly after he dropped his firearm, reportedly acting in a highly erratic manner.
This is not the first time Jackson has been involved in crime of similar nature. In fact, he had previously served a ten-year sentence following a conviction for armed robbery back in 2002.
This time around, Jackson’s charges encompass attempted armed robbery, discharging a firearm into a structure, possession of a weapon amidst the execution of a violent crime, and possession of a firearm by a person with a prior violent felony conviction.
In addition to his 12-year sentence, Jackson will face five years of probation upon his release from prison. The sentence was decided to reflect the severity of the charges, as well as Jackson’s previous criminal record.
