In Spartanburg, SC, a constant and radiant beacon of our community has genuinely left a void as she went on to join her Maker last Friday, October 11, 2024, from Spartanburg Medical Center. Patricia Ann Elliott Thompson, at 70, was a well-loved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched many lives in her years among us.
Patricia, fondly known as Ann, had been married to Alan Scott Thompson, a relationship marked by shared dreams and admirable companionship. Born in Cowpens and the daughter of Robert Ward Elliott and Ellarc Horne Elliott, both of whom have moved on from this mortal life before her, Ann wore multiple hats with grace. Savored memories of Ann will live on within her two daughters, Amy Fleming of Surfside Beach and Madison Thompson, who still resides at home. Her loss weighs heavily on the hearts of those closest to her, including her brother Robert “Bob” Elliott and his wife Pam of Cowpens, and her sister, Phyllis Wertz of Gaffney.
Before Ann’s departure, tragedy had already brushed the family with the loss of a daughter, Nikki Wright, and a son-in-law, Kellen Fleming. As a community, we stand united and supportive of Thompson family during these trying times.
Those who knew Ann will recall a woman who embraced life with both arms open. A fervent lover of the beach, Ann loved writing and journaling, was a passionate caretaker of her furbabies Bentley and Buster, and had a profound love for her family. Her retirement from Michelin didn’t slow her down; instead, she actively partook in local life. At her spiritual family at First North, she served as an involved member of the Media Ministry, thus touching lives beyond her immediate surroundings.
Ann’s boundless affection was not restricted to her immediate family, as demonstrated by the wonderful grandmother she was to five grandchildren and an equally cherished great-grandmother to their four children. She also leaves behind a host of dearly-loved nephews and nieces.
While the pain of her loss is deeply felt, the family has chosen to honor Ann’s wishes. There will be no scheduled services at this time. Yet in the spirit of memorial, contributions are warmly welcomed at First North, located at 8740 Asheville Highway, Spartanburg, SC, 29316. The family will instead gather for private furtherance at their respective homes, where the memories of Ann live on.
For those who wish to share their experiences and memories of Ann, an online guest register is accessible at a local funeral home website. Here, touching tributes can forge an eternal reminder of the love and positive impact she had on so many. May Patricia Ann Elliott Thompson continually inspire us with her life of service and kindness, even in her heavenly abode.
