Residents Invited to Attend Free Screening of “Little Box of Hope” in Spartanburg

In a thrilling announcement, renowned writer and director Edgar Bravo declared an exclusive opportunity for film enthusiasts in Spartanburg, to view the screening of his latest feature film – “Little Box of Hope” before it releases on streaming platforms or local theaters.

Free Screening for Locals

The Spartanburg County Headquarters Library has decided to host this special event at 6:30 p.m. on August 1, in the library’s Barrett Room. Post the screening, attendees will get the chance to engage in a question-and-answer session with Bravo and his producer, Julie Pierson.

About the Film

“Little Box of Hope,” a supernatural thriller, tells the captivating story of a businessman who discovers a box with the power to transport him into the mind of a killer, leading to a psychological conflict between two minds trapped in one body. The film premiered on July 20 at Wofford College, with tickets at a hefty price of $100.

Engaging the Local Community

Drawing keen attention on the importance of community, Bravo intends to utilize this free screening as a means to connect with Spartanburg’s emerging writers and creatives for potential future projects. The filmmaker, who has had years of experience in Los Angeles, has chosen to settle in Spartanburg, seeking a change from Hollywood’s high-paced life.

A Boost to the Local Film Industry

Bravo’s long-term plan involves setting up an independent film studio in Spartanburg, offering local talents a chance to participate in about five or six film projects a year. Local officials and library representatives are excited about the opportunities this event represents, as it provides a chance seldom available in medium-sized cities like Spartanburg.

Future Plans

Audiences not able to attend the screening on August 1, yet intrigued by what might be the first feature film made in Spartanburg, can expect to find the film on Vimeo and Wix in mid-August, followed by a launch on Amazon. Additionally, local movie theaters might host screenings. There’s an air of anticipation for Bravo’s next project, “Huck’s Defeat,” a historical drama centered on a pivotal Revolutionary War battle, set to begin filming in Fall 2025.

The free screening and subsequent question-and-answer session are seen as instrumental steps in making Spartanburg a hub for the film industry, creating opportunities for local talent and attracting more creatives to the area.
