Tragic Shooting Claims Life of One Sister in Spartanburg, South Carolina

Tragic Shooting Incident Occurred in Spartanburg, South Carolina

On an otherwise quiet Sunday afternoon in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Tragedy struck when two sisters were gunned down at a local residence, with the incident resulting in the loss of one life. The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the tragic event on Monday.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., emergency services received a distressing 911 call from the mother of the victims. Officers arriving on the scene of the Foxborough Road home made a gruesome discovery. One of the victims was found lying in the road while the second was found inside the house. Both had been shot.

Identifying the Victims

The victim found outside the house was identified as 29-year-old Marisa Lashae Dowdle. The brave woman had apparently been shot in the head during an altercation, according to an arrest warrant. Her sister, who was shot inside the house, survived the incident and is expected to recover. Thankfully no other injuries were reported from the scene.

The mother, who had initially made the distress call, was able to provide crucial information to the authorities. She supplied the identity of the alleged shooter as well as a description of his attire. Moreover, she informed them about the direction he was heading in after fleeing from the crime scene.

Capture of the Suspect

Based on this information, a man named Tyrone Douglas Brown, 38, and a resident of Spartanburg, was apprehended just a short distance away from the location of the shooting. In a surprising twist of fate, it turned out that Brown had been visiting his minor child at the house. The child’s mother, who was another daughter of the 911 caller, had passed away last year.

According to statements from the scene, Brown engaged in an argument with the victims which quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. The reasoning behind the tense exchange remains unknown. Notably, Brown chose to resolve the conflict not with words, but with a firearm. He allegedly shot one victim inside the house and the other as she pursued him outside.

Claims of Self-Defense

Upon his arrest, Brown was taken to the Sheriff’s Office. He claimed that his actions were an act of self-defense. However, the investigators found both the physical evidence at the crime scene and the testimonies from the surviving victim and witnesses to contradict Brown’s assertions.

Consequently, Brown is now facing charges of murder, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and weapon possession during the commission of a violent crime. He is currently detained at the Spartanburg County Detention Center, and a bond hearing was scheduled for him on Monday afternoon.

As this is an ongoing investigation, fine details surrounding the incident remain unclear, possibly subject to change as more information comes to light. We encourage readers to stay updated for more developments on this developing story.
