The peaceful town of Spartanburg was disrupted late Sunday night when a three-year-old child was wounded in a horrific drive-by shooting. The incident occurred at Victoria Gardens Apartments in the 600 block of Howard Street around 11:10 p.m. According to Spartanburg Police Department Maj. Art Littlejohn, the toddler was in her bed when she suffered a gunshot wound from shots fired from outside.
The child’s mother quickly sought out officers for help, directing them upstairs where they discovered the little girl suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper body.
Emergency responders promptly arrived at the scene and transported the child to Spartanburg Medical Center. Due to the nature of her injuries, she was later transferred to Greenville’s Premier Children’s Hospital. The child is now reported to be in stable condition, as confirmed by Littlejohn.
While the situation remains grave, no person of interest has yet been identified in relation to the shooting. Maj. Littlejohn has indicated that the investigating team is relentlessly following up on leads and interrogating potential witnesses to uncover the truth.
The drive-by shooting did not just harm the toddler. An entire community was terrorized when bullets also damaged a car and two apartments in the vicinity.
As the case continues to go unsolved, the Spartanburg Police Department is calling out for the community’s assistance. If you or anyone you know has any information related to this shocking incident, please reach out to the Spartanburg Police Department. Your assistance could potentially lead to the apprehension of the responsible party and provide justice for the injured toddler and her family.
