Owners of Aspen Street Sweets, Ryan and Natalie Smith, have announced their new venture, a food truck named AJ’s Street Kravz. The truck will be featuring a tantalizing array of carnival-inspired treats from Aspen Street Sweets along with an intriguing savory menu. Named after their sons, Avery and Jordan, AJ’s Street Kravz marks the couple’s full-time foray into the food truck business. Assisting them are co-operator Autumn Hughes and their manager Tina Evans.
“I’m excited to see the growth from when we started with a shaved ice trailer in 2016,” says Ryan Smith, expressing anticipation for this new journey.”
While Aspen Street Sweets catered to dessert lovers, AJ’s Street Kravz aims to satiate the lunch and dinner crowd. Their inventive menu includes lip-smacking smash burgers, creamilicious milkshakes in five different flavors, tasty mini funnel cakes, and hand-scooped ice-cream.
“Everyone loves a good smash burger, and coupling it with a shake is something not a lot of establishments offer,” says Natalie Smith.
In addition to the burgers and shakes, their menu also includes hand-breaded chicken tenders, a favorite of their son Avery. The Smiths have creatively combined this with funnel cakes to introduce their signature dish — chicken and funnels. Customers can choose to enjoy this either in a sweet variant topped with maple strawberry drizzle or a savory version with barbecue sauce.
AJ’s Street Kravz, like Aspen Street Sweets, will operate by appointment in both Spartanburg and Greenville counties. The much-awaited grand opening is scheduled on March 30, from 5-9 p.m. at Keg & Cellar on Reidville Road, Moore, with the full menu available and a pop of the champagne to celebrate this new beginning.
“It’s definitely going to be a memorable occasion,” Ryan says, adding, “And what makes it even more special is that it falls just a day before Avery’s birthday.”
Consequently, one or both of their food trucks will be present at several of the ensuing events in downtown Spartanburg, including the Spring Fling, Red, White, and Boom, Hub City Hog Fest, and the Juneteenth festival. In addition, AJ’s Street Kravz is also expected to be a regular sight at the CCNB Amphitheatre at Heritage Park in Simpsonville.
To stay updated about their whereabouts, AJ’s Street Kravz can be followed on their respective social media pages.
