Tractor Trailer Gets Trapped Under Spartanburg County Bridge, Causing Traffic Disruptions

Tractor Trailer Gets Trapped Under Spartanburg County Bridge

A Commotion in Spartanburg County

In an unusual sight that sparked both curiosity and concern, a tractor trailer was stuck underneath a bridge in Spartanburg County for several hours this past Sunday. The unforeseen incident led to the temporary closure of a significant portion of New Cut Road, causing a flurry among the local community.

First-Hand Accounts

Local citizens in vehicles passing by the road were both startled and confused at the sight. “I am shocked, just shocked and I am amazed,” confessed a long-time Spartanburg resident. While drivers encountered unusual traffic because of the incident, no one had seen such a spectacle on this road before, leading to a mixture of surprise and concern among onlookers.

The Incident

The semi-truck was wedged tightly beneath the bridge, located near the intersection of New Cut Road and California Avenue. Despite signage indicating a 12-feet clearance for the bridge, the driver unfortunately failed to note the warning, resulting in the semi-truck getting trapped. With bewilderment, drivers passing by pondered how the driver could have missed the obvious bridge measurements clearly displayed.

The road was swiftly sealed off as the first responders and tow trucks were called to the scene. After several hours of intricate maneuvering and efforts by the rescue team, the trailer was successfully extricated and towled away from the site.

Safety at the Forefront

Once the truck was removed, drivers resumed their journeys, albeit a little more cautious after the unforeseen delay. Most of the drivers stated that they usually didn’t encounter any issues at that spot. “People are usually courteous there and they let you through one lane at a time. I don’t usually have any problems right there,” added another local citizen.

Upon Further Investigation

The South Carolina Highway Patrol was quick to reach the spot and took over the scenario. They are currently investigating the incident further and have yet to release a statement about potential damage to the bridge. This incident serves as a crucial reminder to all drivers to maintain a vigilant eye on road clearances and notices to avoid such happenings.

A Word from HERE News

HERE News would like to commend all first responders and tow service professionals involved in the rescue operation. Their timely action and quick thinking ensured no further hazards developed from this incident. As we always emphasize, stay safe and attentive on the roads.
