3 Major Backups Slowing Down Traffic in Greenville Co. and Spartanburg Co.

The vibrant city centers of Greenville and Spartanburg counties have seen a massive slowdown in their usually bustling traffic flow. According to the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), three major backups on significant interstate roads have caused this disruption.

Traffic Mayhem on I-385 South in Simpsonville

One of the major backups has struck I-385 south in Simpsonville, within Greenville County. As of 8 a.m., traffic came to a standstill as all lanes near the 29 exits were blocked off, causing a great deal of inconvenience for the morning commuters.

Construction Causes Overnight Delays on I-85

Overnight construction in Greenville County is also contributing to the mounting traffic woes. The ongoing work between mile markers 49 and 47 on I-85 south has resulted in a noticeable slowdown. Unpredictable delays seem to be on the horizon for Greenville residents as long as the construction continues.

Emergency Maintenance on I-85 South near exit 82

Meanwhile, Spartanburg County is not immune to the rising traffic disruptions as emergency maintenance work has caused congestion on I-85 south around exit 82. This unfortunate situation arose following a crash on Wednesday night leading to a complete shutdown of the interstate. Traffic gridlocks have been a common scene since.

The SCDOT urges motorists in Spartanburg to seek alternate routes and exercise patience during this period of disruption. Authorities are currently working around the clock to ease the situation and resume normal traffic flow as quickly as possible.

All motorists and commuters are hence requested to factor these backups into their daily schedules and plan their commute accordingly to avoid being caught up in the disruption. Updates on the situation will be made available as and when received.
