Abbeville, South Carolina – A tragic accident on Tuesday morning resulted in the death of one person and left another injured after several vehicles collided with a cow on the roadway. The incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. on S.C. 20 in Abbeville County, as confirmed by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
According to Master Trooper Brandon Bolt, a 2005 Ford pickup truck was traveling west on S.C. 20 when it struck a cow that had wandered into the road. The impact sent the cow flying into the eastbound lane of S.C. 20, where it was subsequently hit by a 2023 Toyota sedan, followed by a 2013 Toyota SUV that also collided with the animal.
Sadly, the driver of the Toyota sedan, identified as Amy Ward, a 52-year-old resident of Abbeville, died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the Toyota SUV sustained injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. As of now, there is no further information available regarding the condition of the SUV driver. Fortunately, the driver of the pickup truck emerged from the incident without injuries, and no other parties involved reported any harm.
