Timmons Triumphs, Nabs Republican Nomination, Big Night for Freedom Caucus

The primary day in Upstate South Carolina was a key event as U.S. Rep. William Timmons secured the Republican nomination for the 4th congressional district on Tuesday. According to confirmed reports, Timmons won with 36,502 votes over his rival’s 34,235 votes.

Expressing gratitude towards his supporters, Timmons stated: “I want to thank the voters for once again putting their trust in me. I am pleased that voters in the Fourth District saw through the countless lies from my opponent and recognized my hard work, strong conservative record, and the results I have gotten for my constituents.”

Morgan Does Not Concede Despite Loss, Eyes Forward

At his election night watch party, Morgan did not concede defeat despite trailing behind Timmons. Rather, he affirmed his commitment to continue the fight for conservative values.

Competition Builds in the 3rd Congressional District

The 3rd congressional district saw a heated competition with seven Republicans and two Democrats vying for the vacated seat. Bryon Best had the upper-hand among the Democrats, securing 5,134 votes. On the Republican front, Trump-endorsed Mark Burns had the advantage with 26,965 votes, leading over Sherri Biggs’ 23,408. This run-off is scheduled for June 25.

Voter Turnout in Upstate South Carolina

Overall voter turnout in South Carolina stood at 13%. With competitive races, Anderson county saw a turnout of 20%, Greenville county exhibited a turnout of 15%, and Spartanburg witnessed the lowest turnout at 12%.

Local Elections – Sheriff Races and County Council Elections Heat Up

Greenville County Sherriff Hobart Lewis and incumbent Sheriff Chuck Wright of Spartanburg County won their respective sheriff races. The council members too faced the heat with Liz Seman, Steve Shaw, Kelly Long and Ennis Fant clinching their respective seats. Notably, Steve Shaw will face Alex Reynolds in a run-off.

Freedom Caucus Members Secured Victory

In South Carolina’s General Assembly, Freedom Caucus members including Thomas Beach, Mike Burns, Alan Morgan, Bill Chumley, Rob Harris, April Cromer, and Josiah Magnuson, faced opposition but secured wins in the primary. Notably, Alan Morgan recommended candidates Stephen Frank and Sarita Edgerton also won their respective primaries.
