Harris, a junior from Gary, Indiana, found himself landing hard and awkwardly after his dunk attempt, coming down upper-body first onto the polished basketball court.

Quickly springing into action, medical personnel rapidly assessed his condition on the court, before securely strapping him onto a stretcher and whisking him away for further medical evaluation.

What happened next remained uncertain for much of the game. Harris was transported to Prisma Health Richland Hospital, where he was under professional care and his condition unknown. It was not until several nail-biting hours later that an update was finally received about his status.

An announcement via USC Upstate basketball’s social media brought sighs of relief among his teammates, family, and dedicated fans. It reported, “We are thankful to report that after evaluation by the fine staff @theprismahealth Richland Hospital, @UpstateMBB Brit Harris has been discharged, is back in Spartanburg and on the road to recovery.”

Brit Harris, an acclaimed 6-foot-4, 170-pound junior guard hailing from Gary, Indiana, is currently a transfer from Grand Valley State and has been displaying solid performances This season, averaging 11.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Despite his unfortunate fall, Harris was still able to contribute four points to Saturday’s game.

News of his discharge and return to Spartansburg was met with relief and well wishes from the entire basketball community. The USC Upstate program tweeted on behalf of his family, teammates, and fans: “On behalf of his family and teammates, we appreciate the concern and well wishes expressed for Brit throughout the day.”
