In Spartanburg, South Carolina, the Startex-Jackson-Wellford-Duncan Water District (SJWD) and Spartanburg Water have recently announced their strategic partnership which is set to commence on July 1. This major step intends to provide a strategic approach to effectively utilize the regional drinking water resources.
The collaborative agreement between SJWD and Spartanburg Water is aimed at planning for the estimated rise in water demand in the growing areas in the forthcoming years. This will be achieved by leveraging the existing natural and economic resources efficiently to its utmost advantage.
As part of the cooperation for future developments in the SJWD service area, Spartanburg Water has decided to supply the District with additional gallons of drinking water daily. This supply reflects the planning for the projected growth in the region’s population and its industries.
Billy Cothran, the CEO of SJWD, expressed immense enthusiasm about the partnership. He said, “We are very excited to begin this strategic, long-term partnership with Spartanburg Water. This strategic alignment will certainly enable us to utilize the region’s existing drinking water resources more effectively. Not only will our current customers reap the benefits but it will also serve the future needs of our growing region.”
Guy Boyle, CEO of Spartanburg Water, echoed these sentiments and highlighted the shared benefits. He said, “Our wholesale partnership with SJWD is the perfect example of how we can collaborate to share the abundant drinking water resources we already have in our area to benefit our region as a whole. This alliance is a win-win for the residents of Spartanburg County and reflects a genuine willingness of organizations to work together.”
This partnership promises to bring together the resources of two major players in the water industry, benefiting not just their direct customers, but the wider community as a whole. By pooling resources and planning strategically for the future, both organizations will be able to ensure that their communities have a secure and sustainable water supply for many years to come.
Indeed, the partnership of these two organizations sets an inspiring example for other regions and jurisdictions for how cooperation and shared resources can lead to greater efficiency and sustainability in public services like water.
With this partnership, SJWD and Spartanburg Water have marked a significant step towards efficient utilization of vital resources, whilst simultaneously paving the way for similar collaborations which could have a far-reaching positive impact on the global water industry.
