Woman Arrested After Stealing Friend’s Car and Crashing It into USC Upstate Fountain

Woman Arrested for Stealing and Crashing a Friend’s Car in Spartanburg, S.C.

Picture this. One morning, you wake up and find your car missing. A flurry of text messages informs you that your car was involved in a mishap. Sounds like a plot from a thriller, doesn’t it? Well, for one Spartanburg County resident, it was a shocking reality. The incident took place on a quiet Sunday evening that quickly turned into a Monday morning drama. Gather around folks, today we’re diving deep into a quite unusual occurrence in our peaceful little town.

The Night Before

According to authorities, two friends were out clubbing on a bustling Sunday night. The one in question, Jermecia Ayunna Samuel, was reportedly too intoxicated to drive home – a situation we’re all too familiar with, isn’t it? To keep her safe, the friend offered Samuel a place to stay. Certainly a heroic gesture and the mark of a true buddy.

Turns out, hospitality can sometimes leave a bitter after taste!

The Unexpected Morning Extraordinaire

Picture the friend waking up, sipping a hot cup of coffee, only to discover her car was missing! Adding to the drama were the text alerts from other friends, alerting her about her car’s rather theatrical exit, involving a fountain at USC Upstate. The car she had parked safely the night before was now found swimming in a fountain.

The Unraveling

A quick call to the police, and the Monday morning mystery started to unwind. In what seems like the climax of an outlandish action flick, USC Upstate Police Department shared with local law enforcement they had investigated an accident at their campus earlier. Their description matched perfectly the friend’s missing car.

The accident occurred around 4 a.m. Monday and the car, having met its watery fate in the fountain in front of the college administrative building, was declared a total write-off. Quite an unusual place to park, don’t ya think?

The Consequence

Unfortunately, this bit of mischief had its serious elements. Samuel, who reports indicate was the only one in the car during its rouge escapade, had to be taken to the hospital for a head injury. She was cited by campus police for driving too fast, under suspension and under the influence. Overall, bit of a rough patch for her, as Spartanburg Police are now planning to seek warrants on Samuel for theft of property with a value greater than $10,000. Quite a lot to bear for an initial act of goodwill from a friend, huh?

In Conclusion

This rather unusual happening is definitely a reminder for us to always remember to drink responsibly. As for our Spartanburg friend who played noble host but ended up sans vehicle, a reminder that even good deeds need a safety check now and then. Here’s hoping for safer and less adventurous times ahead in good old Spartanburg County!
